Great paint remover for hands (altho' it says not to use on body (LOL)), but DON"T put anything in dishwasher like coffee pot, as it'll remove the paint, - so NO good china. Takes grease out of clothes, (after testing) stains out of carpets (wine) and loosens rusted on bottle tops.

Getting Rid of Mastic and Tar-style adhesive

Just had a nightmare of a project restoring my kitchen floors. We ripped up the cheap white tile which was laid over concrete board. Then pulled up the two layers of linoleum only to be halted by this black tar-like adhesive the bottom layer of linoleum had been applied with. Stripper didn't touch it, my old stand-by Krud Kutter didn't cut it, Goo-gone had no effect, even Behr Adhesive Remover (designed for such things) had no effect. Slow, hard scraping ensued. Back-aches and little progress became the ear-marks of the project. Not to mention the quips from my boyfriend that he can't use the kitchen for weeks... Oi!

On a trip to Lowes to get some paint I ran across this old can of Kwik-Kleen Adhesive Remover - Industrial strength. Of course my eyes lit up and I HAD to have it. The can was slightly lightened and corroded so wanted a new one, which I couldn't find. The salesman, an elderly man who had obviously been there a decade too long, actually remembered when it came in and knew there were no more. As much as I didn't want to touch that can I *had* to have it. He offered it to me at a a discount. I took it and ran :P

This can had a different technique than all the rest. You spread out the viscous liquid and then cover it with plastic. Wait 30 minutes and pull it up. I tried it. The tar adhesive came up like butter. I was in heaven. Then, the can ran out long before the floor was done. So, I decided to try the technique with Krud Kutter. I poured the Krud Kutter and covered it with a clear plastic and let it soak for 30 minutes. The tar pulled away from the floor as if they had never been connected.

Then on 4 am morning trying to get this project done, I ran out of Krud Kutter. So, I tried it again with just soapy water. It worked like butter. I was amazed and got a slight chub :P

So, it's the technique of soaking the adhesive covered that works. All those hours trying different solvents and it was the technique that was the charm. Go figure.

Thought I'd share my Hand Fag experience.

Five inches more in height is enough to make all kinds of extra room.
Would you like to borrow my little 17" wheeled grocery bike for Burning Man this year?

It's far too small for Dave and it's pushing it for Iona (she rides a 19"), but it would be great for Jeremy to get around. Probably Amor, too.

Jeremy & Dave ... Zoe gave me 3 small bags of fabrics from her ex-job. Amazing pieces. Mostly pieces of 1 or 2 yards. Stunning stuff -- and a few that are far too nice for the theatrical drag I do -- I would destroy these fabrics in one performance! But, there are a few that I refuse to part with -- some really campy nouveau-style fabrics.

I'd like Jeremy to have a chance to go through it and pick out the pieces he'd like. We're also overdue for having you two pop over to our house so that Dave can pick through my drag. Perhaps all of that at one short meeting?
